I grew up when he was first popular. (Yes, I'm old.) I had all of his albums (on vinyl!) and still have most of them in sheet music. I learned to play the piano with his music.

Actually, Barry Manilow "paid his dues" in the music business. He was Bette Midler's music director, he did jingles (including some of the most famous of all time, like McDonald's "You deserve a break today".)

Like a lot of artists, his best songs are not necessarily the most popular. I still think songs like "I am your child" and "One of these days" are terrific, and I have a doctorate in music.

no i don't. he's so old and not very good when it comes to singing. all he sings are the mushy jazzy classical romantic song. he's stayed in the same genre and done the exact same thing and type of song for years. he needs something new and to spice it up some.

Should I admit this in public? I love "Copacabana!" Cheesy I know, but I was a kid when his music was popular and I loved it...
