If you are on the birth control pill, it typically comes in a packet with 28 doses. Of these, the first 21 "active pills" contain medicine, while the last seven are placebos (containing no drugs). If you skip the placebo pills you will skip your period.

The big deal about pills like Seasonale is that they do this without making you buy multiple packs... each pack has 3 months worth of "active" pills and only a week of placebos.

It's been done by tons of women the world over. You should probably chat with your doctor before trying this, but generally a period every 3 months is enough for women.
