Serious answers only please. I have seen it wreck not only homes, but childrens' lives. May be I am not seeing the "good" divorces, but I can count about 15 of my friends who were involoved in divorces, most of them with children, in the last 6-7 years, and almost all of them ended up with lawyers, courts, custody fights, money fights, children torn apart.

I know divorce lawyers will disagree, but is it often them that goad the parties to fight and get the best of each other? I heard many people say most of them act like leeches.

People all to often enter into marriage for all the wrong reasons. Half of those getting married look at it as entering a new world but they fail to see all the baggage you take with you. Too many want to get from marriage and are not willing to give. Bringing fantasies into marriage only dooms it. To prevent so many divorces I think everyone should live together for at least a year before getting married. They should plan the future they want away from the mate and then compare the plans.
If they are really mature they should include a plan for ending the marriage if times get to unmanageable. Instead of looking at that as a negative it should be a positive. Very few people ever recognize dangers of marriage and even fewer have the guts to plan for the possible separation.

the best way to reduce the divorce rate is to make sure you know exactly who and what you are marring. I know that sounds lame but the biggest thing I have seen on here is I do not want to ask because I might make them mad. There should not be a question that you can't ask , and get an answer to if you are marrying some one. They are the people that you are going to spend every day of you life with, don't you think should know every thing , good , bad or other wise. Also the other biggie, Maybe they will change after we Get married. good luck on that one. not going to happen, Go in blind, come out broken

The best way to reduce the divorce rates is for people to stop getting married.

I was in the wedding video business for over 10 years and I saw so many young people who were so caught up in the wedding day that they never thought of the marriage years ahead of them. Guys don't really want to be married. That's the main reason for divorce and cheating.

the only sure way is to make adultery illegal. backed by a term of imprisonment for the culprits if proven.and as the initial breaker of the marriage contract forfeits all rights to any material possessions and access to children at the discretion of the one who kept their vows. most marriages break down because of infidelity of one partner. they forget their vows too their spouse for a quick fling would the fling be so attractive if they had more to loose that thier partner?
