How would you have reacted in 1618 in Virginia when Gov. Argall made church attendance mandatory?

He decreed that all who failed to attend church service would be imprisoned in the guardhouse, "lying neck and heels in the Corps of Gard ye night following and be a slave ye week following." Sunday dancing, fiddling, card playing, hunting and fishing were also forbidden.

In 1618 I doubt too many people cared, it was probably a good idea.

What else was there to do? No Playstation, no internet. May as well go to church.
