Will a black tie go with a brown shirt?

Question

I have a brown American Apparel shirt (http://www.americanapparelstore.com/2472.html and a brown sweater I purchased from Target (http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html/ref=br_1_2/601-6232119-9553750?ie=UTF8&frombrowse=1&asin=B000GUP8IS but with orange and grey instead of green.

Would a black tie go well with these?

If the shirt was a lighter brown, I would say yes. The color chart is kind of hard to see though...it makes it look like the brown shirt is almost black. It is not enough of a contrast.

The sweater...why would you want to wear a tie with the sweater? If you wanted to wear black pants...well, it would be OK but grey pants would be better (I think...it is kind of hard to visualize from the picture as well).

You can get away with it being cool and retro if the brown in the shirt isnt dark dark brown (if someone looks at you from far away, would they appear close to the same color?) If you do match them together, then dont wear either black or brown pants..khaki would probably be best.

If the black tie has stripes with brown in it, I think it will work out. Black does with most colors.

It would look kind of dull if you ask me. You should wear a more brighter color that stands out. But not to bright.
