Depending on the "prep". Here (when it comes to school) a lot of the students are full time students and working class, while the preps get things easier. It's not exactly jealousy, its the need to feel superior over someone who may be more fortunate but does not deserve it.

I think "preps" is just a class of people, just like skaters, jocks, etc. Just at a more adolescent level. Later on you will realize that what you were in High School (if you are in HS) makes no difference.

Thats the problem. Theres nothing wrong with you.

The reason we hate you so much is not because you're confident. I am have a thousand times more confidence than all of you combined, but I'm not a prep. I can't find the exact reason why I resent you so much. Is it the non-stop shrieky screams of "OMG!"? Or is it the equally shrieky, annoying and so damn LOUD laughter at the dumbest things ever? The fact that 98% of you don't know the difference between your and you're?
There's so many I can't pick just one.
Its also strange how everyone seems to like all preps. If you are a prep, you're automatically popular with everyone. How the hell does that happen? THAT is not normal. Its not normal for one person to be liked by everyone. Only a few can do that. We all have our enemies. The answer is that you are all fakes. You want EVERYONE to like you, and have millions of friends, so you try to please everyone and often forget who you really are. Rarely will you ever see an older person do that. At one point you just realize that it's not worth it. Unfortunately, some of us realize it later than others.

You make less popular people feel like nothing. Ive seen them dying to be liked by everyone. Poor people...

I for one, have always looked down on your kind, because I know that not all people are equal, and clearly you are the inferior ones. So inferior that you don't even know it. I pity you.

Because you people look down on others just to make yourselves feel good. GOOD LUCK AFTER HIGH SCHOOL because no one cares about how cool you once where. The best people out there are the ones you can trust not to back stab you when your not around. They will go far in the real world unlike you PREPS living on daddy's money. You will probably get pregnant or have an abortion before you are out of High school. Just a guess.

Prep is more of a term used towards guys and girls (only in school, we tend to drop the labels when we grow up) who have money, dress in brand name clothes, and tend to look down on everyone else who is not up to their standards.
There were plenty like that in my school, but there were several I knew that were not snobbish and rude, but nice and cool. Just because you have money, does not mean you have to look down at everybody else. It's not confidence, it's the "I'm better than you" attitude that gets people to not like MOST preps.

If you don't look down your nose at others, than they will eventually see that you are not a snob and they will either become your friends or leave you alone.

I hope you can see past all stereotypes of others as well and make friends in all varieties. :)

youre right, there is nothing wrong with you, but if you want people to stop hating you, first you need to get people to stop hating preps. If you want people to stop hating preps, you need to get rid of the LABEL "preps". If you want to get rid of the label "preps" you need to stop calling yourself a "prep". Labels are childish, and the center of most hate. and, some people say "im proud to be a prep". well you know what, I'm proud AND confident in being 'me".

Because a lot of them (girls anyway) idolize Paris Hilton and Linsay Lohan and Nicole Richie and want to be just like them, which to a lot of people is just idiotic. So they want to get engaged and broken-up every 6 hours and have their pirvates exposed everywhere? Good luck with that.
Also, they're usually not very bright, because they talk all day in class and never do their homework.
Their parents pay for everything, they don't have jobs (and probably won't get one anytime soon).
They look down upon anyone who's not "one of them" as underevolved neanderthals. Oh, wait, I'm sorry, are those words too big for you?
And, you know, like, saying, like, the word, like, "like", after like, every like two words gets like, really like, ****ing old like, after like, a little like, while. They'realwaysreallyhyperandtalkamileaminute, and their whole overly-happy then sadistic b*tch persona is not appealing to most.
They are very insecure and must make fun of others they think are below them to make themselves seem on top, but to others it just makes them seem pathetic and desperate for attention and "friends".
They're sluts who will do it with any football player they can get and will most likely get knocked up before their senior year, or 25th birthday, whichever comes first.

Your "coolness ranking" will be nothing after you graduate high school (assuming you do), and you won't have decent enough of an education to get a job much above a drug store cashier. Then in walks in the people you made fun of back in the day who have jobs with big businesses and nice houses, then who will be laughing?

"Confident" is one thing. "Over-confident" and "conceited" are another.

I realize that many of the reasons I have stated are very stereotypical, and I suppose not EVERY prep is like this. But you have to realize what kind of stereotype portrays you, or even more importantly how you portray yourself to others, because first impressions are not easy to shake. And puting those little text hearts everywhere isn't going to help.

Because they are stupid judgemental pricks that need something to ***** about because they have low self esteem. I like preps, geeks, jocks any one basically who can be real, nice, cool and a good person...its not what we wear but who were are.
