not only are they in the sofet they probably have a way into your attic either look all along you gutters and see if there are any holes doesn't have to be very big just the size of their head if that doesn't work stand back so you can see where they go then take another look if they give their comfortable home in the attic away. Have some flashing or tin sheeting and make a patch six inches on each side of the hole.
Get some live traps bail them and each morning see if any one was locked in

We temporarily got them out by sticking a transistor radio with awful music on the upper shelf of a closet even with the soffit vent they were getting in. Permanent fix involves setting live traps with peanuts inside and carrying them far away. Keep resetting trap until you go about 3-4 days with no catches, then cover up every hole you can find.

With great care...... Seriously though contact a control company, they would be able to clear them out. Where evr they are getting in would need to be fixed to stop them or others coming back in.

set off smoke bombs (fireworks store) in the attic they will come out.
