It's a science assignment (stupid I know). Please help!

Could be a trick question. A grain is actually a unit of weight, and there are 7000 grains/ lb. There are also 454 grams/lb.

Therefore, there are 15.42 grains of sand/ gm of sand.

Hi. You need to find the average weight of a sample of the sand, then divide 1 gram by the average grain weight. Depending on the size, you could get any number. But 1-5 thousand would be a starting guess.
