756x.29=219
By the way the only part you need to know about in this problem is the total number and the %. All the other stuff is junk they put in there to make it more difficult
Hope this helps

You mulitply 756 by 29%= 219 students play in the band...
Then multiply 756 by 37%= 280 students that take the bus
you have to round off the decimals
The reason this works is because percent has to be mulitiplied by the number of people that are all together....

Take 756 (total number of students) times 0.29 (for 29 percent). Your answer will be the number of students in the band.

756 X 0.29 = 219.24 so 219 would be a correct answer.

For the bus, just change the percentage to 37. So........

756 X 0.37 = 280.83 round up to nearest whole number for an answer of 281.

219 Students play in the band.

29% (0.29) x 756 = 219.24

However, it's really difficult to have 0.24 of a student (though this *could* be because the count includes a number of amputees.. : P ), therefore the number is rounded to the nearest whole number (as likely was the percentile).

29% of the students play band. So what's 29% of 756 students? It's fairly simple if you think about it.

The other way you could work this out (Same general process, same answer)

756 / 100 = 7.56, which is 1%
7.56 * 29 = 219.24, which is 29%.

As stated above, round down.

It's actually 28.97% (approx) of students in band:

(219 / 756) * 100 gives 28.968253968253968253968253968254%.

Change the percent to a decimal, and then multiply it by the total # of students. 29%=.29 .29x756=219. You can do the rest yourself.
