What year did mobile phones have the ability to have internet/email access?

you could acces a wap browser with limited accessl, text-only, no html around or about 1999/2000. 2002 is about when the first color screen phone came out. You could still access web with a black-pixel screen.

My first cell phone in 2001 had Internet capability. It was the Samsung N400 or SPH400, I forget the model number. But I know it had limited Internet capabilities.
