ok honestly-- I'm trying to help my nephew with his 3rd grade math and i feel really stupid because i honostly don't remember and he didn't have a book. [[yes i know i'm a retard - moving on]] It's the range mean median and mode stuff. I know the median is the middle number when you put them in order and one of them is when you add them all together then divide by the number of #'s. So i guess I just need the definition of mean and mode and possibly range... THANKS

Mean: (the same as the average) add all the numbers and divide the total by the amount of numbers added.
Example: 1 5 7 2 9
1+5+7+3+9=25
Divide by 5
Mean=5

Median: the middle number when placed in numerical order low-high
Example: 1 2 4 6 9 10 15
Find the middle term (in this case 6 but if there is no exact middle and it is between 2 numbers like this: 1 2 4 5 it would be in between the numbers in the middle (so it would be 3) )
So the median is 6

Mode: The most repeated number
Example: 1 5 8 1 4 9 1 5
The mode would be 1 because it appears three times)

Range is the difference between the highest and lowest number
Example: 1 4 5 9 3
9-1=8
Range=8

Mean
The sum of all the numbers divided by the amount of numbers.
2 3 5 7 5
2+3+5+4 is 15. There are 5 numbers so the equation becomes 15 divided by 5 and the answer is 3. The mean is 3. Mean is the average.

Median
Put the numbers in order from least to highest. What is the middle number. If there is an even number of numbers then add up the two middle numbers and divide by two. If there is an odd number of numbers, then the number in the middle is the median. (there should be an equal amount of numbers on each side.. example..
1 3 5 7 9 -
5 is the median

Mode
The number that appears the most.
3 5 7 3 1 9 3 3
3 is the mode.


Range
Largest # - Smallest #
1 6 4 3 7 10
10 - 1 = 9
9 is the range.

Ok. You're almost right about the median.

The median is 2, and you use the adding/diving method when you have an even number of numbers (duh) such as in: 1, 2,3,4 .. you would add the 2 and 3 = 5 and divide by 2 would give you 2.5 as the median.

The mean is adding all the numbers and dividing them by how many numbers you have. 1+2+3=6 and youhave three numbers so 6/3 is 2 and that's your mean.

The range is the difference between the lowest and highest number so you subtract the high from the low so 3-1=2 so 2 is your range.

The mode is the number that is more frequent such as in 1,2,2,3
the mode would be 2 or you can have two modes.

Mode is the number that is seen the most in a group of numbers. Take for example: 7, 8, 9, 9, 9, 10, 11
The mode would be nine, because it is shown the most.

Mean is when you add all of the numbers in a group of numbers and divide it by how many numbers there are in the group.

Range is the difference between the smallest and largest number in a group of numbers.
For example: 7, 8, 9, 9, 9, 10, 11

Mean is when you add up all the numbers and take that total and divide it by the number of #s
mode is the number that was repeated most number
range is taking the highest number and the lowest number and subtracting them

ex:

2, 2, 2, 3, 3, 3, 3, 4, 4, 4, 7, 7, 7, 7, 19,

mean: 77/15= 5.13
mode: 7 and 3
median: 4
range: 19-2=17

Mean = AVERAGE ie total of all scores / number of scores

Mode = Score that appears most frequently.

Median = middle score - arrange scores from lowest to highest, count the number of scores. If an odd number the middle score is the 'median', if an even number - half way between the two middle scores.

Range = the top score minus the bottom score.

Mean is average which is like 2+2=4/2=2
mode is the most in the group of numbers like 344684044 so 4 would be mode
Median is the middle when numbers are in order from smallest to largest. 23456 4 is the median
Range is when you sub 1 number from another in other words range is difference between 2 numbers.
