I participated in auditions and workshops many times and I needed to learn sequences fast. It's scary so you first need to relax and enjoy the opportunity that you have to dance and try out. When I want to learn a dance fast I practice it a lot until my body learns it after which I go over it in my head before i go to bed and whenever I don't do anything else. I also need to practice it a few times right before I perform to refresh my memory and to remind my body the sequence. I've noticed that after doing all this I don't need to think much while i dance because my body already knows the dance. Good luck. Smile big and be confident and look the judges in the eye! That will show them your determination and how much you enjoy what you're doing.

You just have to keep going over and over the steps. Take it in small chunks. Especially focus on transisitions from one 8-count to the next, cuz that's where you'll usually get stuck. When you're sitting in class, use your hands on your desk (or your lap) as your feet to go over the steps and get them into sense memory. The more you learn dances/cheers, the faster you'll get at memorizing.

I am not a cheerleader but i did cheer and I do hip-hop dance....You should try writing out your steps. Then say them out loud to yourself (saying them while doing them helps). Then picture yourself doing them and go through them in your head.
