There's honest, and there's honest.
"My god, with an **** that size, do you really think you should be wearing that dress?" is very honest, but won't make you any friends.
Your comment about the audition was not honest, it was a put down. There was nothing constructive in it. "Have you considered ...." or "Can I suggest ..." are a little more subtle.

I understand that your intentions of been an extremely honest persons are not to hurt people's feelings, but that's exactly what you are doing. Honesty is a touchy subject. By been extremely honest you make yourself feel good by doing the right thing, but you have to consider that the right thing for you is not necessarily going to be the right thing for another person. Your intentions are good but your results are hurt full. You don't have to be a dishonest person, you just have to be more aware of been sensible and kind. There is no need to lie but sometimes it's better to omit the truth.

you must do what you feel in your heart is the right thing to do. in regards to the auditions you might have asked if they would like some suggestions for improvement and then tell them something positive at the end. whenever I had to discipline a worker I did so but after this I always talked with them about something they did which was positive.

In that case, it was right to be honest. If someone comes to you wanting your opinion you should always tell the truth, because if they go out somewhere else thinking they are the sh*t because you told them, then your the one that's gonna take the blame for them making a fool out of their self.

Sometimes it is bad to be honest. When it come to people's lives, it can usually mean a lot if your honest. But you can tell a little white lie when it comes to your friends saying,"does this look cute or what!" I mean we don't want to hurt other people's feelings!

no, it's not bad to be honest. people need to learn to handle the truth. sometimes when I'm honest, people will tell me I'm being judgemental - like I said, they just don't like the truth.

sometimes, it's better to be silent.
but i agree with you... with the audition story... you cant possibly be too honest and tell them they sucked... dont mind them. it's only natural that they feel frustrated and agry with you. it's an audition anyway.
