depend on ur cpu, if your cpu is amd 64 or later, ur computer will be fine, but ur computer will experience slow down.
If ur cpu is amd socket A, your cpu will burn. Smoke will come out from your computer. However, i think most motherboard will shut down its self when the cpu is burnt
Intel will be fine. The cpu is wont burn. It will only experience slow down.
It also depends on the temperature of the place of where you live.

You don't need to see it - you should be able to hear it. Would be a worry if the fan did go out, but if you are keeping your system properly maintained (ie, in the case of the fan, using a vacuum from time to time to clear the vents) then you shouldn't have anything to worry about. Get an additional fan added if you are overly worried - it won't cost you a lot

Once your cpu has reached a certain threshold temp, it will attempt to reboot itself or turn off completely. Don't worry, most mobo made within the last 7 years have this safety feature.

you didn't say what type of computer you have. in new computers you can set a CPU temperature alarm in BIOS what prevents it from overheating.
go once into the BIOS program (hitting the Delete key while starting up) and look what can be set. you should find it under Advanced settings.

most fans are at the rear of your CPU, you can see it spining, if not turn your CPU on only if you are using it and have a tech check it out, or it may burn out your system

first things first.. depends on what CPU you have.. if you have the older pre Core2Duos.. itll fry almost instantly.. and nothing would work.. if you have the new Core2Duo.. it could run all day long under stress too with no problems..

it will over heat and fry your processor. Also the power supply might die if you do this.
