First, I'll give you some info about me.
I'm 31, female, live in the NY area, I have one Masters degree, and a second one on the way, I'm white, my family is Jewish, and I am agnostic. I'm a full time professional in the education field. I was born in Russia, but came to the U.S. when I was four. I really liked Borat. I thought it was one of the funniest movies I've ever seen. I laughed out loud so many times. My boyfriend loved it too. The guy who plays Borat is Jewish himself in real life and in his movie he made many Jewish jokes, so he was playing a character who was making fun of his own religion. Therefore, I knew the movie was not ment to offend anyone. He said things to people on the film that some people secretly wish they could say.... but the Borat character is able to get away with what he says because the character is nieve and really doesn't mean to offend anyone with his simple mindedness.
Being a femanist, I did find some of the material initially offensive, but our society is so politically correct that humor is often killed... so I decided not to get pissed off at those parts which were incensitive to women... those parts, along with many others were actually really funny. I also thought that the Borat movie was inovative because most of the people in the film were not actors, and they were playing themselves without even knowing what the movie was about... this movie is considered to be a Mockunentary (like a documentary) because it mocks (makes fun of) real documentaries. Chris Rock is hysterical and controversial at the same time. He doens't care about political correctness, and he is received well by his audience. I could say the same thing for Carlos Mencia. I hope I helped you with your assignment. Good luck!

haven't seen it and won't unless someone pays me big bucks, and even then, concessions must be included.
