Yes I do hate it, and the only reason she probably got offended is because she knew you were right. The saying the truth hurts is very true in some instances.

I had the same thing as you, i was teriible for biting my nails and when pregnant i didnt touch them, no longer than a month having my son i was back chewing them again. I was also a smoker before pregnancy, smoking 20 a day. I tried and tried so hard to quit smoking and did do for a few days, i ended up in hospital as i was stressing so much and was advised to carry on smoking. OK not in the same respect as before but I went on the to lightest Silk Cut ciggerettes and smoke about 2-3 per day a bit here and there. This kept me calm. I had a healthy full term (overdue) 7pb 8.5 baby boy, who is fine! In conclusion to this being a smoker and a nail bitter, i really do not think bitting your nails come anyway near to smoking. Nail Bitting is a habit, that seems to 0stop during pregnany as your hair growth and condition chnages and nails are hair and smoking is an ADDICTION. Although I do agree with you 100% if pregnant women are going to smoke dont it for everyone to see when they are obviously expecting

OMG! Yes! My sister had a friend who was pregnant with twins and smoked until she was about 8 months and then got sick from it. When I asked my sister what the hell she was doing, my sister said that she had smoked with her first baby all the way through and she came out just fine. I couldn´t believe people would want to hurt their own baby like that. Just because you have a weakness doesn´t give you the right to kill a baby. Lame!

Yes. HOWEVER!! If you're a smoker, and you get pregnant. The doctor will actually tell you NOT to quit smoking cold turkey that it may be too much stress. They tell you to gradually quit so it don't effect you more than it should or your baby.
Hope that helps! As far as that too it's not easy to quit. So, if you're a smoker and pregnant I understand. You should however just think of how you feel and times it by ten and imagine if you're baby might be feeling it. Or if you know someone who's pregnant smoking bring that up. If they're anything worth of a mother they'll want to stop.

I do hate to see that. You'd think, in this day & age, most women would know better than to do that.
However, I would never presume to tell another person that they shouldn't be smoking... pregnant or not.
So, I can see why she got very offended.

The problem when we hate on pregnant women when they smoke is that its their choice, they know the harms, but there is nothing we can do, its not illegal to smoke while pregnant, and yes I am against it. But there is nothing i can do.

I worked with a woman who was the same way. Her logic -- "I smoked with my first kid, so I see no reason why I should have to stop smoking for this one."

Yes. I'm glad you said something. Usually I don't and think of all the things I should have said later.
