Algebra Help....?

Hey Thanks alot to the people who answered my last question it was a big help! I also was wondering about another thing with inequalities. The directions say, "Solve the inequality. Write a sentence that describes the solution" The questions says 6+2x>20 or 8+x<0. I don't have it answered but if someone could explain to me how to do this it would be a big help! Thanks!!

Basically, it is almost the same thing as if there was an = sign rather than a greater than or less than sign. If you multiply or divide both sides by a negative number, you must change the sign from "less than" to "greater than" and vice versa..
6+2x>20 subtract 6 from both sides
-6 -6
2x>14 then divide by 2
x>7 is your answer

8+x<0 subtract 8 from both sides
x<-8 is your answer

6+2x>20
can divide by 2 if we want to,
dividing both sides by 2 gives
3 + x > 10
can subtract 3 from both sides
x > 7
the inequality reverse if we multiply or divide by a minus number
for example
4 > 3
-4 < -3

8+x < 0
can subtract 8
x < -8

one more thing
if say
7>x , that is "7 is greater than x"
that's the same meaning as x < 7 "x is less than 7"

2x > 14
x > 7

8 + x < 0
x < -8

So, x has to be greater than 7 or less than -8. This is infinity minus anything between negative eight and positive seven (inclusive).

Start with the first one.

a)Subtract 6 from both sides/ 2x>14
b)Divide both sides by 2. x>7*******

8+x a)Subtract 8 from both sides. x<-8***********


Answer is.
X>7 or X< -8

Which means x is greater than 7 but less than 8.

any number that is greater than 7 is the solution

8+x<0
x<-8
any numbers that is less than -8 is the solution.
