Fin rot isn't alive so it doesn't have a life cycle. You have to find the cause of it then treat it since treating it and not knowing why the fish have it will just cause it to come back.

Life Cycle Of A Goldfish

Fin Rot occurs in most types of fish - my Siamese F ighting fish recently had a bout of it - he was miserable. Just sitting on the bottom of his vase! They cant swim properly when they have it.

Try getting these two things (they are good for goldfish)

Aqua Master "Multi Cure" it is a green liquid that helps kill the fin rot & purify the water. You only need 5 drops per 1 litre.

and

Aqua Master "Armour Coat" this helps them to heal & their fins to regrow and also removes any chlorine from the water and reduces stress in the fish. You need 5mL per 20 litres of water.

After a few weeks i noticed a change in my fish & he is right as rain now! I am still using these products on him just in case!

Good luck to you & your fish! :O)
