What are 12 hour compressed shifts?

Im looking for a job and I found a job opening that said this.

This is only a guess because I have never heard of the terminology, but I know there are jobs that fit this description...

Instead of working five 8 hour shifts, you would work three 12 hour shifts. Even though you only work 36 hours in a week, it is considered fulltime for benefits purposes.
