I had a partner who thought that crying and getting almost hysterical is a weakness. I've never seen him cry, or get choked up, or give any real display of sentiments. He says because he is strong. So is showing your sentiments a sign of weakness?

No, of course not. Crying is not a sign of weakness but because crying in itself does not solve the problem, some of us feel embarrassed at the sight of tears. Others feel uncomfortable at the notion of tears as manipulation.

Not crying or allowing people to see your feelings is a sign of weakness. It takes courage to show your emotions to your friends, don't you think?

In public, yes. But not when you are with someone who cares for you and that you trust.
