FYI...
Buford Pusser himself was signed to star in Part 2, Walking Tall, but on August 21, 1974, after a press conference in Memphis, Tennessee to announce the film, Pusser's Corvette left the road about six miles from his Adamsville home and struck an embankment, ejecting Pusser. He died upon impact or shortly afterwards.
In his life he was shot 7 times and stabbed 8 times...

The original in 1973? That was Joe Don Baker. The one released in 2004, The Rock played the Sheriff.

In addition to Joe Don Baker, Pusser was also played by Bo Svenson. Baker played him in the first movie and the tv series, but Svenson was in the last two original movies. One further note: While the movies had him with a son and a daughter, in real life Wild Bull Buford only had a daughter.
