I have two sisters. My older sister & I don't get along. My younger sister & I have always gotten along and been very close. For the last 4 years, they have lived in San Fran and my little sister has worked for my older sister as her nanny/housekeeper. Recently, my younger sister decided to move to Seattle to pursue a degree at Univ. of Wash. When she got here, she got depressed and wanted to go back to Cali. Both my sisters have a history of mental illness (older sister-depression, younger sister-anxiety). Now neither of them will talk to me, because they blame me for this whole thing. I'm left here wondering what the heck I did wrong. I expect this from my older sister, but not from my younger sister. I think she needs to seek some professional help to deal with her anxiety, but she refuses and now won't talk to me. What should I do? I feel so helpless.

the best advice i can give you as a sufferer of my siblings is this. you cannot control either of them or change the way they feel about you right at this moment. That only leaves your feelings and how you perceive them and of course act on them. I suggest you concentrate your efforts on persuing your own lifestyles wants and needs. don't waste you young life worrying about things you have little or no control over. YOUR opinions are as important as any-ones, believe in you and find your way to success. Given time your sisters will see their folly and the differences will be overcome. just be you allow them to be them, please don't beat yourself up any longer life is way too short

Hmmm... it sounds like a difficult situation... and from what you mentioned, it doesn't sounds like you had anything to do with what happened... but I don't know. Maybe call your younger sister first since you were closer to her and try to have a heart to heart chat with her. Let her know that you don't understand but that you want to, and lend her an ear... let her tell you anything and everything that she feels she needs to, and go from there..

Just live your life. Eventually they'll be lucid and they'll come to you. I have a sister who's very erratic and I never try to talk sense into her or ask her what's wrong. I wait til she's "better" and I let her call me.

did you offer her advice to go to college? If syou did she resents you for giving her that advice, tell her you learn and you live, like when you fall you get up again. She shouldn't be blaming you for her depression and mistakes, she should be apologize to you. Ask her what you did to hurt her, tell her that it's painful that she won't talk to you.
