do you mean that you cant load any disk? if so your laser is probably died. cleaning may help so yea try that.

try another disk. the disk u r using might be faulty. if that doesn't help, try one more. no luck? use the cd drive lens clean up disk. u can get it at most 99 cent stores. or the department store. if that doesn't help, then contact ur cd drive manufacturure.

i had that problem and it was just a bit of dust on the disk itself - try cleaning and re-loading ~x~

if problem continues, buy a new drive.
dvd burners cost no more than 20 quid these days, cd-roms much less.

most likely to be the disc- give it a clean with a cotton cloth- gently, then try again.
