When drinking water out of glass that's been washed in a dishwasher, it always tastes bitter. I use rise-aid (Jet Dry), which helps minimize residual spots, but doesn't seem to help with bitterness. Should I use another brand of rinse aid, or, is it just my dishwasher that doesn't rinse throughly?

the manual for my dishwasher says I must use rinse aid. Can I really skip it?

The Jet-Dry is what is bitter to taste. Most detergents have a rinse agent in them already and don't require you to use a separate rinse agent. If your water temperature is hot enough(125-130 degrees F.) the dishes will get clean and dry without spotting without the use of an additional rinse agent. The only exception is if you have extremely hard water.

using dishwasher is the lazy way. try washing them by hand, and the taste will clear up.
