A true solo musician.. Wow.. I guess you really mean "John Smith", not "John Smith (with some other people who aren't given credit for their efforts)".

I have very little experience with drum machines but it sounds like a decent idea if you can still make good music, it's just that what will you do for alterations in a song like a transition where you go from snare to bass (or vice versa) to cymbals? That's the question you have to ask yourself, not us. Do you want to sound like the Ramones all the time or do you want your music to change and be different?

i dont play any musical instrument but i sing. if you can play the guitar and can also sing i'll thumps up. if u practise for ur live performance with a drum machine while also playin the guitar and i happen to watch u, i'd appreciate ur skills and performance. plus u get to take all the praise for a real cool solo! so i'll say go for it but make sure u practise well fisrt.

good luck.

Drum machines can be quirky..

I'd record my drum tracks to CD and just play off that..

I've done drum tracks for solo guys, and that what they did..

I did the drums on Just a Man and So Far Gone.

Drum machines can be tricky. Try performing with a metronome. If you can stay with a metronome, you should have no problem with a drum machine. However it may be time to graduate to a full band.

Yes, I had a band (Bass, and 2 guitars) and we used a Roland workstation sequencer to play my SPD-20 Drum and everyone thought we had a drummer.

Dmachines can be a little hassle to use sometimes, but if you feel up to it, go for it! I've always wanted one... but I don't really play out so I just use Anvil Studio to create everything except the guitars and bass :)
