What's so great about the top floor anyway? In case of emergency, you've got to use the stairs to exit, and it'd take longer if you're on the top floor than if you're on a lower floor.
Then again, it depends on how many floors there are. If there's only one floor, then the top floor is also the bottom floor.

Can you take the elevator as close as you can to the top floor (like a couple floors beneath) and then take the stairs the rest of the way.....?

i don't understand what your other options would be... and besides, taking the stairs is a great way to get a tiny bit of excersize in a day if you're short on time... so YES!

no! take the escalator to the basement instead. believe me, i know bosses...he is hiding something in the basement from you. check all the closets and air ducts too.
