Sadly, many of the ignorant people of this world have this view. Not based on anything they actually know about America the country and the people in general of America. Their hatred comes from their hatred of our current leader. They are misguided in their reasoning and shallow people to think this way. Unfortunately there is little chance it will change as there will always be these type of people that cannot see beyond the tip of their nose. American people are not unlike people the world over, there are rich, poor, in between and good and bad people. People from other countries that bad mouth America really don't have a clue, what regular every day life is like here. Such is life! There will always be bigots no matter where one is from.

The feds are trying to change other country's into there own Democratic image for capitalism's sake. mostly.people don't wont to change just for us.They wont to keep there traditions and religions and beliefs and etc,So they resent the Federal governments efforts to change them. This country is made up of some wonderful people. in all the various parts . we the people of the States make up a great country. where ever you are you think that its the best part. I am a Southerner so of course I think that the South is the best part of this great country to live. but people have a right to there opinion.its a free world as well as a free country.what I mean by free is that all people have a right to there own opinion.they hear only the bad points about us in the news about the Feds and the Crimes people do. but most people are very decent people. I have been going door to door sales for over 23 years. I know.I meet them at there door. 99.99% of people are decent people.black, white, jew, indian. arab.have met them all. I can tell.there decent people.I beleive that all the people of the world are basicaly decent people. its just those few that do bad.that cause trouble. and people tend to think that most are that way when its not that way at all.Its like a sort of racism.to lump most people in a particular country as being a certain way.everyone is different and has a right to be different, and should fight back when someone or country to trying to change them, when they dont wont to, in regards to there religions or traditions or beliefs. this should be a free world.God Bless the United States of America

I dont think that most people consider America to be horrible but they may have had bad experiences in America or with Americans. I personally have had American people call me names and act like they were better than me.( I am Russian American born in America and grew up in a small town in Oregon but we had to wear homemade clothes, ate different food, spoke russian, etc.)My religion is Russian Orthodox old believers and we just looked different so we were an easy target. I eventually figured out as I got older some people are jerks and some are not but there are people who will have a horrible experience and judge everyone based on that. Thats life! Not everyone you meet is pleasant but some are, and they are the ones you really need to pay attention to.

cause and affect.

the western world causes an imbalance that negatively affects others. It is one thing to do your own thing and mind your own business
it is quit another to take more then you need at the expense and all too often detriment of others.
I have followed this site for a few weeks and there seems to be a lot of americans that have a bad word to say.
Sorry but until you can step back and see from a more universally considerate perspective then naive people like you will never understand or respond to those who suffer because of the indulgence of a relative few.

They're probably not talking about what it's like here as much as about the way we act toward the rest of the world, and the foreign policies we have.

However, the US exports its culture in the form of movies, TV programs, etc., so people get a sense of us based on that.
As a result, America is perceived as a place full of rich, decadent, shallow and violent people out for sex and reckless adventure.

I don't think it's because they don't live there. It is a question about morals and values. Some people have different morals and values and don't agree with capitalism, democaracy, patriotism, etc. It doesn't make one person/country wrong or right. It is just a difference of opinion. There is always several sides to each story and many reasons why a person develops their opinions.

You're pretty much right about the world thing but the thing about Americans isn't entirely true.

Most Americans don't hate our country they just think that it could be bettter (i.e. government, economy) and most of the world feels the same.

It's the ideals that people love: the American dream, freedom, liberty, and such.

Not America or Americans, just most of your leaders. I find most Americans to be decent, pleasant people. I have also heard a lot of Americans express their displeasure at the current state of their country as well.

roflmao.

Umm, my husband is American. I've been travelling back and forth to the United States for 5 years. I probably know more than most what the US is like.

So yes, I have the right to judge. Especially since my husband still lives there (we're working on a visa).
