how would you solve: 4x - 2y = 8 so that it can be in y= form

would the answer be 2y - 4x + 8, then you can divide by 2 and get
y - 4/2x + 8/2......is this right

how would you solve: x = 3y +2 so that it is in y= form?

would the answer be -3y - x +2 then you can divide by -3 but what will you get?

the first one would be y=2x-4

and the second one would be y=(-1/3)-(2/3)

for all problems like this all you need to do is isolate y and put everything on one side

Not quite, you lost a - sign

4x-2y=8 subtract 4x
-2y=-4x+8 divide by -2
y=2x-4

x=3y+2 subtract 2
3y=x-2 divide by 3
y=x/3-2/3

For the first question:
subtracting both sides by 4x,
4x - 2y - 4x = 8 - 4x
-2y = 8 - 4x
dividing both sides by -2,
y = 4 - 2x

For the second question:
subtracting both sides by 3y,
x - 3y = 3y + 2 - 3y
x - 3y = 2
then subtracting again both sides by x,
x - 3y - x = 2 - x
- 3y = 2 - x
dividing both sides by -3,
therefore, y = - (2 - x) / 3
simplifying, y = (x - 2) / 3.

The answer to the first is y = (4x)/2 - (8/2)
or simplified y = 2x - 4
because you add 2y to both sides and subtract 8 from both sides, then divide by 2

The answer to the 2nd one is y = x/3 - 2/3 because you subtract 2 from both sides and then divide by 3.
You can't get rid of the equals sign in these problems, you just have to swap things from one side to the other until you get the y term by itself.

4x-2y=8
subtract 4x from both sides
-2y= -4x+8
divide -2 from both sides
y=2x-4

x=3y+2
you want y to be alone. Subtract 2 from both sides
3y=x-2
divide 3 from both side
y=1/3x-2/3

a million) each and every physique be conscious of that's a rectangle, and that's perimeter is 24, so: s1 + s1 + s2 + s2 = 24 We additionally be conscious of that s2 = s1 + 3 so: s1 + s1 + s1+3 + s1+3 = 24 4s1 + 6 = 24 4s1 = 18 s1 = 18/4 = 9/2 = 4 a million/2 s2 = 7 a million/2 2) each and every physique be conscious of the three factors are: x, x-a million, x+a million And each and every physique be conscious of the perimter is 17 in. so: x + x-a million + x+a million = 17 3x = 17 x = 17/3 = 5 2/3 So the three factors are 5 2/3, 4 2/3, 6 2/3 3) Supplementary angles upload to one hundred 80 stages, so: x = the unique attitude 3x + 20 = the supplement to the unique attitude the two angles greater suitable = one hundred 80, so: x + 3x+20 = one hundred 80 4x + 20 = one hundred 80 4x = sixteen- x = 40 this is supplement is one hundred 40 perfect of achievement! :)

4x-4x-2y=8-4x
-2y/-2=(8-4x)/-2
y=-4-2x

next:

x=3y+2
x-2=3y
(x-2)=3y/3
y= -2/3x
