I know they can be a fire hazard. But I'm talking about inhaling the chemicals in them all day everyday.

if they are in a good candle burner is one way to be safe.. The Best way to avoid candle burners from getting too hot and crack is to buy better candles . they don't put out the heat like cheaper ones do and they will prevent the candle holders from cracking.if the wick is too long , cut some off to prevent the wick from burning too high and fast. the cheaper the candle the faster it burns, and it leaves black soot inside the burners.
Burning candles are fine all day everyday if you are there to watch them..

Your chances of fire go up dramatically. Try to place your candles in some sort of fire-proof container to limit the chance of accidental fire. Best to have candles going when you're in the room and awake.

yes if you leave them unattended for even a few minutes they can catch something on fire.
