It depends upon how much time you've got until you leave and how old you are. If you're too young for a job, you can try to sell items to your friends (like candy... etc). If you're old enough for one and there's enough time for it..... then get one! If you're old enough for on e but you won't be able to get one on time, then do what I do..... start sucking up to your family members! Also, whenever you do have money in your hands, save it. Every dollar counts. Seriously. I decided to keep my change (dollars and stuff) and not spend on little things (gum etc) and I've saved up $50 in two weeks with just leftovers...
Another thing is if you're not the only one who's going and who needs money, you can fundraise. There are a lot of fundraising companies available online where you can get people to donate or just by really cheap things and money goes to you....

if its a school thing which it sounds like.. you should have some fundraisers with the school... my school's spanish club is trying to go to spain so they're selling candy, chips, pop and some sort of ethnic food everyday in our lunchroom. our school cafeteria doesnt have anything like chips, pop, candy etc. so its a much needed break for us sugar hungry kids. and make sure you dont overcharge.. i bought a pop for the last 2 weeks, for one reason, cuz its cheap! (and good) and try to find out what your school will want also.

I would write a support letter to close family and friends. It takes some swallowing of pride, but people who love you will love to support you if it is for a good purpose. I would let them know that you are trying to raise money for a trip that is going to develop you and strengthen you as a person. Make it sound education and professional not like you are just trying to go for fun. Ask them to donate money for your trip. Also you can have a garage sale for your trip. If you have nothing to sale ask people to donate things for your garage sale. Put this at the end of the letter as one of the ways they can support you.

Example if you would like to support me on this trip that will be educational for me and help me grow here are the following ways you can support me:
1. You can make a financial donation to (put your name and address).
2. You can donate things for my garage sale and come to my garage sale on (put the date)
3. You can support me with calls, thoughts and your prayers. Thanks you.

Make sure you let them know you need morale support to. Through encouragement and prayers. That always gets them :) Also make sure they can call you and ask you questions about your trip. Be willing to share with them. Sometimes they just want to be able to communicate with you and this is a way they can do it.

If you want to raise money on your own you can always get a temp job to help raise money. Or go to neighbors and do odd things like walk dogs, baby-sit, and mow the lawn etc.

Have a good trip.
