Please, no answers saying he didn't get enough votes.

To the guy that said relievers rarely win the Cy Young: OSWALT IS A STARTER!!!

The players should vote. They see the players they would vote for and they know how good the other players are. The current voting system is bad. People look at the team's preformance, not the player's. I'm pretty sure that if the Astros did win more, Oswalt would have finished better than fourth. The same goes for the Gold Glove. Everett is the best defensive shortstop in the NL. Isn't that what the Gold Dlove is supposed to be about? Voters look at batting stats also. The awards don't go to the best.

It was a tough call, and it just went against Oswalt. He had the best ERA, but he pitched fewer innings than Webb, had one fewer win, and had a slightly higher WHIP. Oswalt may also have been overshadowed by his teammate Roger Clemens, who had better numbers albeit over fewer innings.

You could definitely make the argument for Oswalt, just as you could for Webb or Carpenter. This was a tough voting year.

EDIT - You're right about Adam Everett - He's by far the best defensive shortstop in baseball by any measure, but he never gets the credit. Derek Jeter is not half as good, but he gets all the love for his defense.

best of a quite weak field, i assume. i imagine Oswalt's stats are literally not as solid as his pitching extremely replaced into, and Hoffman also had a extra outstanding three hundred and sixty 5 days than Webb, yet 0-2 is hard to swallow for a Cy youthful Award. i'd have lengthy gone for Zambrano, too. A weak, weak three hundred and sixty 5 days contained in the NL.

The winner is chosen by the Baseball Writers' Association of America. He got less votes than Webb. Simple as that. Did some of them think Oswalt was better than Webb? Sure, but less than the number of people who thought Webb was better than Oswalt.

Because Brandon Webb also plays baseball (Webb is much better than Oswalt and he truly led his team).

he was on a decent team

webb was on a bad team so it was more impressive with his team to win 16 games.

Webb and Carpenter had better seasons than him, and plus he was overshadowed by Clemens in his "final season."
