yes, but i guess each tool uses different simple machines or mechanisms to do what its suposed to do.
i also dont know what my teacher means by that..thats why im having trouble writing this assignment

for example, gears, levers, wheels are all simple machines...

Pick a screwdriver with a straight blade (and a ratchet if you want to get complicated). Without the ratchet as a clue it could be for almost anything, chipping bits out of softer material, scraping stuff off harder material, levering things apart, wedging things open.
With the ratchet it's obvious that it was designed for turning something in one direction or the other, probably the hard thin end was inserted in some sort of thin cavity and depending on the position of the lock on the ratchet you can turn the thick end backwards and forwards while the blade part rotates in only one direction.

Why on earth would anybody want such a tool?
Probably some sort of ritual purposes.

A claw hammer

A lever, basically a long stick that when it uses a fulcrum multiplies the force being applied many times. One of our ancient scientist said "Give me a big enough lever and I'll move the world"

When pounding nails, the leverage helps the metal head gain more momentun (ever try pounding nails by holding the hammer at the neck? It doesn't work too well. Also, when using the claw to pull out bad nails, you are als using a lever.

A compressor.produces air to operate tools

You said tool and machine, two different things, a tool is use to repair a machine and a machine is operated to do a task.

An Incline. It is very simple and yet it is a machine and very helpful. It allows the elevation of very heavy objects by using little amount of force. It allows penetration of hard materials: knife. You can talk about the physics behind it and the many real life examples, from doorstop to scissors to ramps.
