Staff are not allowed to drink on duty!!!

However, the Residents, Tenants or whomever are allowed to drink. It's their choice. We as Carers support their choice and can only offer advice.

That depends on the state. In Maine they discourage alcohol usage because of the medications many people in residential care homes have to take. However you can't be asked to leave the home for consuming alcohol.

It would have to be prescribed by a doctor. At least here in Indiana USA. I had a patient who had a prescription for beer or wiskey the bottles were labeled like a prescription and we had to count the bottles like we counted the narcotics.`
