It's the classic song of a genre that everyone knows..........take for example Bryan Adam's "Summer of '69"............that song had such a following!

Well, a cult classic is usually a movie that didn't do too well in the box office, but for some reason has been picked up by an avid group of fans and turned into something much more than expected.

Good examples would be "Rocky Horror Picture Show," the "Evil Dead" series, "A Christmas Story," etc. All of these movies have a wide and diverse fan base that seems to transcend generations!

As for the ending of RHPS... honey, nobody knows. Your guess is as good as mine! ;)

A cult classic, I'd say, is a film that has acquired a strong and loyal following in the years since it's release...and probably for reasons OTHER than the ones the filmmaker's intended.

For example, "Plan 9 From Outer Space" is a bonafide cult classic. But, when Ed Wood made it, I'm sure he thought he was crafting a science fiction/horror thriller, and was deadly serious about it. Little did he know that he was making one of the worst -- and unintentionally hilarious -- films of all time. THAT'S a cult classic.
