Not on my must see list, but I expect we have heard it all before, tough on crime tough on the cause of crime, short sharp shock etc.

Please be aware that although the Queen makes a speech in the House of Lords at the State Opening of Parliament, it is not actually her speech. The speech HM reads is prepared by the government and handed to her by the Lord Chancellor of England.

I heard some of it on the radio on the news. the one that baffles me is where they said they will secure the borders ... i mean how much more secure can they be being an island?
I stopped believing in politicians long time ago. All pompous pretence it was today. The Archbishop at the opening of parliament? That reminds me of the middle ages to be honest.

The usual draconian nonsense from Labour - it is the next Budget that matters when we find out what Gordon Brown is going to do - this was Blair's last gasp and thankfully there is no guarantee it will be passed into law because soon he'll be gone! Hurray.

same sh*t different speech ,its actually president blairs speech not the queens . Just as always full of empty promises , tough on crime just as crime goes through the roof , take our freedom to fight terrorists that dont exist ,dumb down schools , cut services , raise taxes and as for climate change does anyone actually think this government cares one bit about climate change ? they care about cash and looking after no.1 regardless of how much carbon it costs

even Her Majesty looked as though she didn't believe any of it, and was just getting through it, but then she has had a bad back and the crown and that long train must have hurt a lot.
