There are thousands of mutts and purebred dogs that look like pit bulls to those who have no idea of what a pit bull is to begin with. So before you rush out to vote.... keep in mind one simple statement made by this Rudy Guiliani " He has expressly stated that he believes Pit Bulls should be exterminated. He tried to pass a law in MF imposing very strict regulations against Pit Bulls. He has made no secret of the fact that he despises Pit Bulls. He wanted to ELIMINATE HEARINGS on dangerous dogs and let cities DESTROY pets without such a hearing." . First of all what constitutes a pit bull in his eyes? A look? Your breed may fall under his irration bull **** logic too if he has emotions like this as he stated. So where does your dog fall into this category!? Is it a pit bull? Or does it simply look like one? I don't care who ELSE you support for President, but I urge all dog owners to vote NO to Rudy Guiliani and to spread the word far and wide. We have a year to get the word out to dog lovers everywhere. DISPLAYING ABSTRACT - New York City Mayor Giuliani administration trains its quality-of-life sights on city's dogs with bill that would increase fines for harboring dogs deemed to be dangerous, deny dogs any consideration for being provoked into barking or biting, and require owners of pit bulls to obtain $100,000 in liability insurance before being granted dog license

I'm also wondering -- so under his regime, if a serial murderer breaks into your home and tries to kill you, and your dog BITES the would-be killer, your dog is deemed dangerous without a hearing and euthanized?

I cannot believe he said that. I have lost a TON of respect for that man. I own a Pit Bull and I am constantly trying to educate people about BSL and how it not effective. This is just like a slap in the face to me. How can anyone want to truly exterminate the breed? How sad. What kind of person are you where you would even consider killing millions of dogs?

Pit Bulls are wonderful dogs... although they are not for everyone. Not because they are mean... but because if they are mishandled they are powerful.

I will do what I can to spread the word of Guiliani's hate.

torbay,
Do you really think that matters? Once BSL has taken away all the Pit Bulls who you do you think they will come after next.
In the 70s them made people afraid of German Shepherds, in the 80s it was the Rotti, in the 90s it was the Dobie... now it is the Pit Bull. Who is next? Do you really think that the drug dealers who abuse Pits care about the laws? Apparently not. All BSL does is make those people abandon there dogs and take up a new breed. BSL does not solve anything and neither does denying the problem because your dog doesnt look a certain way.

Sorry, my dogs look NOTHING like pitbulls.

I am in NO WAY for BSL...however, there IS a problem and there needs to be a fix or it will come to that. SOOOOOOOO many people on THIS site are making BSL a reality. Breeding pits left and right. They know ZIPPO about breeding and you can bet your A** that they do not know any more about placing puppies or finding good homes. They do not have a notion of how breeding and temperment are related.....they just keep on breeding. Some for the $$$ and some because they think Pits are the greatest thing since sliced bread to use to thumb the finger at the "establishment"!!!! These are the very people putting the nails in the Pitts coffin. And the same people that will make it worse for all of us.

Wow... Rudy just lost ALL the respect I had for him.

I never thought my dog looks like a pit... she's an aussie/catahoula mix. That is... UNTIL I took her to get her nails trimmed at a local groomer. They took her back without asking any questions (if she looked like a pit, I'd have expected them to at LEAST ask if she needed a muzzle or something... just cuz of the hype)... then he asks "are you done with that pit bull?" to the other groomer. Since I knew my dog was the only large dog THERE... I was shocked! I have NEVER been asked if she was even PART pit. It was weird... Anyway... I guess I should be glad they were willing to work on her anyway... but geesh. So yeah... I see your point. Just because a dog may "look like a pit" to some... clearly that isn't always the case!

well i used to have a dog, she looked liek a pitbull. we were at the local petstore (petsmart) and a rescue group goes to show and put the dogs up for adoption. there was this cute puppy. she was a brindl color, very muscular. we were lookign for another dog anyways. my mom said NO, NO PIUT BULLS! but i read in her biography that she was a rottweiler, boxer, golden retiver mix. she looked just like a pit bull and boy was she strong! i hik what he's doing is wrong. pitbulls yes they do have a very bad rep but its the owners that do it! not the dogs. yes they are aggressive but all dogs can be somewhat aggressive when protecting thier owners or territory... =( poor pit bulls

I have had dogs that looked like pit bulls, were part pit bull and, my cousin has had a pit bull. and I'm sorry but when these dogs are in a LOVING and RESPONSIBLE HOME, they are VERY PLAYFUL AND LOVING AND LOYAL. ITS THE OWNERS FAULT IF THEY BIT NOT THE DOGS. Dogs just do what there taught to do

I totally disagree with what he says. Its not the dogs fault if they are mean or not, its all on how they are raised and any dog has the potential to attack or bite. What he says is ridiculous!!!
