I have a book called "History of the World: Earliest Times to Present Day" published by JG Press. It's a huge book, about the size of a small end table, almost 1000 pages, and is authored by professers from Yale, Harvard, Hamilton College, among others. Very dense. good book.

You need to hit a library. Find the reference section. Yuo can't check them out but it has the most consice books on world history and will have loads of historical maps and such. Happy hunting.
