The Republicans, who have been shutting the Democrats out of the decision making for six years suddenly have to talk bi-partisanship. I think what they have were saying about the Democrats before the election, is closer to what they really think. There are reports of an "agenda" that the Republicans are going to try to pass before this session is over and the new Congress takes over. We'll see how bi-partisan things really are if they try to pass this agenda.

Since it has gotten alot worst every year over the past 30 years, I don't know why you would expect it to get better.
The issues are too polar, you can't have a medium ground on abortion, gay marriage, tax cuts for business or tax increases
So one side has to win or lose, and it just can't happen with the nation so closely divided. Plus the democrats ( at least some) understand that while they won, they won on moderate views, not extreme views.
And then at the state democrats appear to be going back on things they promised ( big surprise)

I think they are too busy with internal housekeeping right now to snipe at each other, Tofu. Give them some time to realign party leadership and beat down the internal dissenters and they'll be back at each other's throats.
