Is it ok to hit the ceiling or walls if your neighbors are too loud?
Or should you knock on their door and tell them?

Do both knock on the wals or ceiling a couple times and if it doesnt work then go confront them!

Knocking on ceilings and walls is extremely rude, and makes you no better than the neighbor making the noise in the first place. Be the better person and encounter them face to face.

I bang on the walls when it is so late. I don't even want to get out of bed, let alone go out and knock on the door. They usually get the hint.

You may want to knock on their door and ask them a couple of times because aggressive behavior always makes others react in an uncouth manner. By the third time, they should have no reason to wonder why you called the cops.

Yes it is okay. If they are rude enough to disturb you that you can be rude in return. We had a neighbor we called Big Momma the floor shock when she walked.

tell them that they are bothering you - but I do think it is fair to make an agreement with them that they can keep their tv loud during certain hours of the evening. If its past 10 p.m. - I think that is getting kindof late to be playing loud music, stomping around, watching loud tv, etc...

First knock and be polite. If it continues anyway, then I'd bang the floor. If that doesn't work, there's always a noise ordinance that the police should be able to enforce....it's usallly in effect after 10pm, depending on where you are.
