I am changing jobs and I need either a character reference or a professional reference relating to ADMINISTRATIVE WORK. I've tried writing my own but I'm not objective enough.

I have already asked someone and she is very busy. She indicated that she would like for me to send her one to sign.

And let me also say that I am presently employed and just because I misspelled a word on Yahoo does not mean I am not an intelligent person. Internet geeks get over yourself please!

Some people don't have time to draft up a letter of reference. It is not uncommon for someone to ask you to draft a reference and send it to them for review. It may not be extremely ethical but it happens. I know how to ask for a letter of reference, what I need is a template so that I can modify it and send it to someone for their signature. If you don't know where I can ge that then please DO NOT RESPOND.

What? You get a reference from someone you worked for in the past. For a character reference, you might be able to pass one off from someone that you personally know but have not worked for, but dont expect it to really look very good. And if you write one for yourself, then you can absolutely count on not getting the job, because doing that means that you dont have good character.

A professional reference letter needs to be from a former employer (preferably your manager). A character reference can be from a coworker, teacher, or friend.

Um, you jest surely.

Ask someone (preferably a professional) who knows you and is capable of writing a decent letter. That person should know what to do.

You cannot write your own and you cannot find one, you must ask someone who knows you well to write one for you.

Why don't you try to spell it correctly first? Ever hear of "spell check"? Maybe that is why you don't have a job.
