Why does it really matter what race we seriously? Why is it so important what difference would it make, why are there minorities, why,why why are we labling people as minorities, they're all just people, people just look different and have a different skin color thats it, it's not like a white person can't have kids with a black person, this is getting out of hand i think some one should speak up to the goverment and put an end to asking what race are we, theres no point to it really.

In my honest and humble opinion... I think the government is doing it to avoid a law suit or being labeled as prejudice themselves. The government isn't the ones that said hey im being discriminated against because of my race or nationality it is a few squeaky wheels that messed with the cog so much our government had no choice but to acknowledge there is a difference in skin tones. Its scary that people always blame someone else often our government for their short comings rather than accept that they aren't perfect, learn from their mistakes, move on, and try to become better people by learning from their mistakes.

How do you think the British were able to take over the world at one time. They used tribal hatred and existing bitterness to divide and to conquer it is a very old game. The same elite are doing the same thing today, But the truth is they dont give a crap about race. They care about power and keeping the common man from getting together and taking there power away. So they play the race card. They keep the hatred flowing and they stay in power.Congress asks so they know were to send money and where not to. If black neighborhoods are underfunded there will be an increase in crime and drugs they are a minority in a democracy so they cant vote the majority out of office. The media will then do everything it can to report every problem. Blacks will be portrayed as thugs and gangsters in the movies and the radio. the sad part is the black youth buys into the negative image. then the majority of people who are white will live in fear. Fear will keep people from asking questions. Fear will keep people in line.
I do not answer or tell people what my race is. it is a racist queston. You are complety totally right the only decent answer to the quesion is that I am human. The city has 10,000 humans they get funded the same way as the rest.
There is only one reason they ask there is no defense for it the fact that is asked is proof they are racist.

To respond to the first person that answered. The government doesn't need to get more money. Money from who? They create the money.

To the second person that answered, I have a government job that I got on my own. I live in a non affirmitive action state. I got into and paid my own way through college, no grants or loans. Whites use more money on loans and grants then anyone, which I don't thik is a bad idea. Also, Affrimitive Action applies to women of all colors not just minorities. Do your research before your make stereotypical comments in an open forum.

The govevenment put themselves in a position to have to care about race. June 19, 1865, 14th Amendment, and the barrage of immigrants that migrated to the US after the Civil War. Instead of making us believe we were one big happy family, the government decided that native white male were elite and an immigrant white man was still inferior. If you weren't a Christian, you were inferior! If your last name was not Anglio-Saxon you were inferior! It is true by 2050 most of the earths population will brown or black skinned. White textured skin will be a minority. Hopefully before then we will all finally except each other for who we are, Human!

I believe the reason has to do with a few fundamental principals of NATURE whether it be animals or humans:

Human beings by nature identify with each other whether positive or negatively based on attributes/features or areas of interest. It is this concept of identity that is the root of all that is good or bad in humankind as the identity can be used for good or bad.

In fact, the fundamental construct by which the notion of democracy is based is on the assumption that people with a common interest if given the choice would choose the MAJORITY of the time actions that would benefit ALL in such a way that it promotes the survival and growth of the group (i.e. society). For example, think SPECIAL INTEREST in democracy. It is this concept of Interest that is the ying/yang of democracy. If to many SPECIAL INTEREST groups become to powerful such that they put their INTEREST of a select few above that of the majority INTEREST then you tensions within the group (i.e. society) that could evolve into wars, genocide and other types of conflict.

That is why in American society we are a collective of Interest Groups, some more powerful than others, some united depending on when their interest are mutually beneficial and some engage in conflict when their interest are mutually exclusive to that specific interest group.

Therefore, in American society one of the key attributes that americans & human beings in general use as a means of identity and interest is THE ETHIC BACKGROUND, COLOR OR SKIN, SEX, RELIGION, ETC.

And since or political system is based on INTEREST (i.e. the group with the largest common interest may cast the largest vote and thus gain some control in deciding the faith of the collective).

This leaves the government to monitor the society by all of these attributes in order to monitor whether or not a specific group based on one or a combination of attributes are being made disadvantaged by the MAJORITY INTEREST.

It is a necessary ingredient in human society to protect those who may not have as powerful of a voice, when the majority decides to exclude a specific interest group from a specific benefit or decides to punish a specific interest group.

In summary, the bottom line is that human beings will either complain that they are being victimized by another interest group or deny they are harming another interest group. The government has to have a way of measuring whether or not one group has a valid greivance or not

I feel you totally on this one man. and did you know that there is NO person on the WHOLE universe w/ just one type of ethniticity and by 2030 or something the minority will be white people (the dominating race) because the genes are more dominated by dark genes, such as hair, eye, skin color and stuff.

Sure there is, at least in the government's eyes. Your race determines if you qualify for affirmative action, which gives minorities, such as blacks and hispanics, preferential treatment in hiring for federal & state jobs, as well as entrence to colleges & universities in the US. If you want to give that up, it's fine with me. But alot of others might not be so willing.

The government only once to know our race to place us in a box. Supposedly they get more money for certain ethnic groups, but that can't really be true since there the one that generate the money anyways.
