Ok this is an "A Diamond is Forever" commercial. This one has a married couple laying in bed on christmas eve night. There is music being sung throughout the entire commercial. The husband gets out of bed while the wife is asleep and goes to take his gift out of hiding. He comes and lays down next to her and lays the diamond necklace on her neck. She wakes and sees the gift and the commercial ends.
ok. During this entire commecial, there are very nice song lyrics being sung by an unpronounced female artist.
She says: "How can I tell you that I love you? I love you..."
I want to tell you that i'm always thinking of you. I'm always thinking of you, but I cant think of right words to say..."
Now, I searched as hard as I could, the song is "how can I tell you" and was orginally written by Cat Stevens aka Yusuf Islam. But, obviously, he's a guy. Who was the female artist in the commercial and is the version sang by her available anywhere?

So I found where it said it was Cat Power, but I can't find the song anywhere by her. But I sampled some of her stuff on CD Now and it sounds like her.

Diamond is best known for his three Top 5 hits - "I Won't Let You Down" (1982) as the lead singer in the trio Ph.D., with Tony Hymas and Simon Phillips; his solo performance, "I Should Have Known Better". The latter song was a United Kingdom number one in 1984. And of course the theme song from 'Boon', Hi Ho Silver which reached Number 5 in the UK charts in 1986. His voice has often been used for other people's songs, especially charity songs such as Sailing with Rock Against Repatriation, You'll Never Walk Alone with The Crowd and Let It Be with Ferry Aid. Diamond is still a working artist. Over the past thirty years he has gone from lead singer of his own bands, to solo studio artist, to live performer. If one thing can be said for Jim Diamond, it is that he is one of the hardest working entertainers of our time.

That is without a doubt Chan Marshall, aka Cat Power. I'm very upset about her being in a commercial for diamonds, very not like her.
She is amazing though, check her out...

no. really. cat power. not liz durrett. it's not an official release, so you're not going to find the song listed anywhere, but that is cat power. i promise.
it's lovely though, and i wish it would be released. along with the cover of "hanging on the telephone" that she did for cincular, and the song she did for TIAA-CREF.
i also wish she hadn't done a song for the diamond industry, but that's neither here nor there.

It's definitely Chan Marshall, not Liz Durrett. If you listen to Liz Durrett's version & compare it to the youtube link that was posted, there's a significant difference between their voices. I can't even find it on SoulSeek, so I doubt it's been released yet. If anyone finds a leak, let me know because I'm eager to have it as well!
