Little Michael Myers kills his big sister with a pair of scissors. As to "why". . .I suppose the boy was mentally troubled. He had to go to an institution after that.

Michael was propelled to kill by the 'voice' he heard in his head. The voice was that of the guise of Samhain, the Festival Of The Dead (Halloween). Same voice his grandfather heard years before. I've still got the book and it explains a lot more. Hope this helps :-)

Michael Myers kills his older teenage sister as a six year-old boy while she is babysitting him on Halloween night. He does it because he is evil personified, and he just wants to kill people.

The little boy in the clown costume is the teenage girls brother. Thats when it all started, that was Michael Myers as a boy, he was crazy before he even grew up!!!
