I just moved into a brand new home this summer and since it has turned chilly out I have turned on my heat and I programmed it for 72 degrees but the house is still cold and it seems to me that the vents are blowing out cool to cold air. It seems that my house is not comfortable to me unless I have the heat programmed to 80. The two rooms that are the coldest are my room and the living room area. Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this problem? I cannot afford to have my heat up to 80 degrees for the winter.

Brand new system may need adjusting. Call the sub contractor that installed the heating system and have it serviced. Ducts and/or dampers may need adjusting too.

Try closing off the vents in the rooms you
don't use and shut the door. Less house
to heat that way. You could also get a space
heater for the coldest rooms to supplement
the heating. Insulation in attic and caulking
and weatherstripping doors and windows
always helps. Costs money now, but will
save money in the long run.

The vents should all have damper values in them, in the basement U should be able to adjust how much heat U want to come out of each vent.

Hard one. I live in Tennessee, average wage is $6..00 an hour. We cut our heat down to 55 degrees cause Bush raised the Electric Bills.

check your windows 'feel to see if air is coming in' if so seal those windows;all your heat is going out if so.I've lived in some drafty houses before and even some doors will let cold air in ;so feel around for air coming in;good luck hate those high heat bills too,.could be cold air getting in the vent from somewhere too.

Get your builder back to check the system, if its new then something is not right, and you have at least a 5 year warranty.
