How would my friends & I accomodate viewers with regular dial-up access...when it comes to them listening to music/watching trailers on a website.
They say that their pc freezes when they try other sites. Are those sites not using a certain program...is dial up even capable...or is it a combination of the both.

Dial up is a very slow connection, and when you have streaming video it tends to not work very well, the best thing you can do is offer a download of the file so they can download it to there pc and watch it from there,
there are also programs online that will take a streaming video like a windows media comaptible file and shrink it to a much smaller file size, this will help when people with dial up will want to watch a video, try going to google and type in media shrinker or go to downloads.com and look for a utility that will shrink the size of the file , usually this can be done without loosing the quality of the video

dial-up is simply not fast enough to watch video, and sometimes, even to listen to music withouth freezing. Sometimes, buffering helps, and some sites do this, but the data, for the most part, simply isn't getting to the computer fast enough to play it seamlessly. For video and audio, broadband connections are pretty much a necessity.

i read somewhere that you can watch videos on 56kb dialup if you make an adjustment to your video card in the wizard. adjust the video acceleration level to a lower setting. all you can do is try it and see if that helps.

here is some info on this page that might help also. the info is meant for webcast customers but can be used anywhere.
