The starter typically engages the flywheel of the engine and has nothing to do with the fan belt.

On one of my cars the only thing driven by the belt is the alternator. The cooling fan is connected directly to the crankshaft. I've driven the car back and forth to work for several weeks without a problem but had to plug in the battery charger each night.

On the other car, power steering, A/C condensor, coolant pump, etc are driven from the belt. Bad idea to drive without the belt.

Yes, not many cars have fan belts these days, but almost all have alternator belts and most of those turn the water pump so no belt, no alternator output which equals flat battery after a few minutes or hours if you are lucky and as a bonus if the water pump is driven by the alternator belt, you get localised overheating which can wreck the engine. Some Fords drive the water pump from the Cam Belt so the pump fails and the belt comes off destroying the engine and adjusting the Cam belt destroys the water pump, clever people at Ford.

Yes, but depending on what model car, your Alternator, Power steering, A/C and/or your Water pump may not turn if you do so. It is NOT a good Idea to run with out the Fan Belt ! It only takes less then 5 minutes for your car to Overheat that way and cause SERIOUS engine damage

It should start but the belt depending on car models run a lot of different stuff. Do not run for very long. For sure no where near 20 min. If the water pump is ran by the belt on yours then it is even worse if ran more than a minute or two.

Yes it will but if it is the sort were the fan belt drives your water pump the engine will overheat , if its the later type car were the fan belt drives the alternator then your battery will eventually go flat

It will start, without the fan belt, however, you do not want it to run for a very long time because you need the circulation to keep the engine cool.

yes it will start but i wouldn't drive it. The fan is used to cool the engine. If it's a serpentine belt that goes around the alternator, fan,ac compressor, and power steering, It will start but it will wear down the battery, and have no power steering and would be unsafe.

If you have a fully charged battery the engine will start but you will not have any accessories being driven. The alternator will not charge the battery, there will be no power steering and, most importantly, the water pump won't be turning to circulate coolant so overheating will occur shortly.

yes it will start but why would you want to start it without one. Get it fixed and then you wont have to worry about it. If you live a mile or less from a garage and cant fix it yourself then go ahead and drive it down there. Just pay close attention to the heat. And be carefull steering if it runs the power steering.

Yes it will, the fan belt is used only to cool your engine. It is not advisable to run your car like that for more than around 20 mins.
