Well, my mother and brother are disappointed in me.......I received an 87 as an average for geometry and having a B is not enough in my family. I need to bring that average up to a 94 for my final average.....

Yes I know, study more, work harder, stop procrastinating.....I want to know are you strict about grades?

I think most parents are serious about grades. My son is 13. He just brought home his progress report. He had 3 C's and 2 B's. I told him, you have 3 weeks to bring those C's up to at least a B. I am strict (I don't like that word) about his grades only because I know he is capable of doing better. He's in the 7th grade. I try to make him understand, the more that he learns now, the easier high school will be for him. I do not demand that he makes the A honor roll. I just want him to apply himself...to be the best that he can be. He will never work to his full potential....but I do want him to know that he can!
I know there is alot of pressure on kids today. I do not try to overwhelm or stress him out. I do have expectations....but, they are for his benefit.

Kind of - I expect them to do their best and I know that their best isn't below an 85 at least. Congratulatoins on an 87 - that's good!

My parents used to be very strict about my grades and soon they realized that I can take care of myself better without the stress of constantly being told what to do. Don't worry, everyone gets that "I'm dissapointed in you" voice or look, but they only want you to do well. Plus, it sounds to me like you know what you need to do. Good luck ;)

I expect them to do their best, are you capable of doing better? If you're already trying your best you need to give your Mom some information on giving your child an inferiority complex! Not all children are alike, so it doesn't matter what grades your brother got.

If my daughter made the B honor roll, I'd be ecstatic.

Yes, very much so. Anything less than an "A" isn't tolerated.
