I'm a girl and would hate, absolutely HATE jewelry as any type if gift.
seriously, a collector's box of her favorite band, or some clothes made in another country (my boyfriend gave me a scarf and hat from Peru and I love them)

I'm sorry, but girls (alternative or otherwise) love jewellery. Go for quirky silver, with an original twist. Design it yourself and you will be reaping the rewards forever!!

Well, if you know what she wants, give that to her. If you don't, get something that'll remind you of shared memories you two have had. It'll be meaningful and neither of you will forget it. And might I say that it comes "straight from the heart". :)
