It totally depends on your body chemistry whether or not the silver will "turn". If you have high levels of acids in your sweat and body oils, then there is a good chance the silver will corrode over time or that it will oxidize more quickly (oxidation is what causes the greenish/blackish color). If you skin is fairly dry, you shouldn't see much discoloration. Silver will never actually turn to gold (unfortuately alchemy hasn't gotten that far yet), but again, depending on your body chemistry (this time how much copper is in your skin) it could take on a yellowish cast over time.

It may be caused by highly acidic perspiration or contact with other chemical agents. Or what you eat the same day. Since sterling silver may be alloyed with copper some people may also experience a green staining of the skin. None of these conditions are to be taken as an indication of the quality of the sterling silver.

Sterling silver will never turn colors or turn your finger green over any amount of time but if you have something that is some other type of metal but dipped in sterling silver you may have these problems eventually.

Your finger won't turn any unusual color if the silver item is real. Real sterling silver has the numbers 925 imprinted on it somewhere. I know, because I'm extremely allergic to a lot of things and I'll turn green from anything not real.

To see the 'live' spot NY gold price and some museum size gold nuggets I suggest you visit a great site I found a few months ago. I purchase a few nuggets from them just about a month ago, and not only are they beautiful to look at but in just the last few weeks they have really moved up in value!

I'm actually saving to purchase others!

The site is: http://www.california-gold-rush-miner.us

Their museum nuggets are at:
