here is what i do and it works.
Keeping PC defragged, and running CCleaner (free from http://www.filehippo.com ) this utility really works fast I use it all day long. Defragging every 4 hours works great also, really helps with speed. If done this often it takes about 2 minutes. If you have neglected
doing it. It will take awhile the 1st time
Increasing your memory.helps with the freezing/getting booted problem. You can increase your memory by..going to start button, settings, control panel, system, advance tab, performance, advance tab, virtual memory, change, make it 526kb or higher, click apply then ok.If it’s not listed as Kb,”some are not.” Just double the number listed.

Computers freeze for a few reasons. The main reason is becuase you have too many or poorly written applications running that cause your system to freeze up.
There is a program called HijackThis (http://www.majorgeeks.com/download3155.html). You can use this utiltiy to stop applications from loading when your computer starts up.
If you choose to use it, be careful and examine each line before you decide to delete it.
Other reasons computers freeze up are either environmental (your computer over heats) or failing hardware.
